Linkin Park Announces April 7th Release of "Meteora 20" w/ 6 New Songs

Linkin Park Announces April 7th Release of “Meteora 20” Featuring 6 New Songs That Didn’t Make It On The Original “Meteora” Album

Twenty years following the release of their historic album, “Meteora”, Linkin Park is releasing a 20th Anniversary Edition of Meteora through Warner Records on April 7th. Announced on Friday, February 10th, the band shared that they will also include 6 previously unreleased songs in addition to a few other fan-friendly collectible items.

According to a press statement from the band, Mike Shinoda shared that:

“Finding this track was like finding a favorite photo you had forgotten you’d taken, like it was waiting for the right moment to reveal itself.

For years, fans have been asking us to release something with Chester’s voice, and I’m thrilled we’ve been able to make that happen in such a special way. I think they’re going to be floored when they hear and see all the incredible unreleased songs and video footage in Meteora 20″

The first previously unreleased song to be brought to light is “Lost” featuring the original band with Chester Bennington’s legendary vocals. This song didn’t make the final track list back in 2003, but according to the group, they rediscovered the song while scavenging through old hard drives.

Additionally, to celebrate the Meteora 20 announcement and the release of “Lost,” Linkin Park has decided to officially relaunch their Discord and will also be teasing “more surprises” leading up to the April release.

Lost Official Music Video – Linkin Park

Listening through all my old favorite songs and bumping this new “Lost” track, it is still abundantly clear why so many people love and cherish what Linkin Park brought to our lives. Bennington’s vocals and lyrics are incredibly powerful, and especially so on this more introspective release, “Lost”. Each lyric is truly inspiring, soothing, reinforcing, and can still teach you something even 20 years later.

Now in my early 30’s, I get to look back at my life and reminesce about all of my life experiences and how I got to where I am today. I remember all kinds of family trips with nothing but Linkin Park albums being slapped back to back and not even needing to skip through any of the songs. Even my father used to sing along and hit his version of Bennington’s scream-singing moments. Classic parent and kid time for sure.

Blasting Hybrid Theory’s “Papercut”, “In The End”, “One Step Closer”, and “Crawling” really helped me get into the right mindset before football games and basketball games in 7th grade. I go back to all the football workouts we used to do after high school. Every single session featured numerous Linkin Park tracks getting bumped, most of which included countless teens and athletes reciting the words as they hit squats and busted out speed training drills. It was truly a great time to be alive and we owe a part of that culture and growth process to artists like Linkin Park.

Although those days and that time has passed, and Chester Bennington is gone (RIP), one thing is for certain ya’ll. Linkin Park’s music could really be described as some of the best all time, and is definitely one of the soundtracks that helped build the core foundation for my teenage years and countless others from the millennial generation.

Growing up in the early 2000’s, I remember watching their “In The End” music video on MTV over and over before and after school. Was it just me, or was “In The End”, “Somewhere I Belong”, and “Numb” literally on repeat during the time when those songs got dropped. People forget that they were one of the first rock meets rap bands to really dominate that MTV era.

From Meteora, “Somewhere I Belong”, “Breaking the Habit”, “Numb”, and “Nobody’s Listening” became the go-to music for me to escape from the stress and violence of an intense family environment. Once Jay-Z and Linkin Park released the Numb / Encore remix, it was game over for me. I was hooked for life.

S/o to Linkin Park the band, the people, and the team that supports them.
