Lil Uzi Vert and Playboi Carti have a confusing relationship. For years now, fans have been trying to figure out if they love or hate each other, but recent updates on the situation suggest it’s most likely the prior. This past Saturday, Uzi posted an Instagram story in which they tagged Carti and wrote the following message: “Me and my luv about 2 take over the world.”
Just two weeks back, Uzi gave Carti a shoutout during their Rolling Loud set in Los Angeles. In addition to premiering three unreleased songs, they made it clear that it’s all love between the two: “Shout out to Carti, we don’t talk hardly, but that’s where my heart be.”
Both rappers have teased a collaborative record titled 16*29 before, but it now seems like we’re getting closer and closer to its release. In an interview with Adin Ross last month, Uzi revealed that they have over 40 songs recorded with Carti between 2020 and 2022. Watch the snippet below.

In the past, the two have worked together on a number of knockout tracks such as “wokeuplikethis”, “Of Course We Ghetto Flowers”, “Left, Right” and “Shoota”. Additionally, the pair have two leaked songs that instantly became fan favorites: “Throw It Up” and “Break the Bank”.
During an interview last year, Carti has also touched on the collaborative effort: “Uzi is working on mad music right now … I don’t know if he’s serious about a lot of things. But I hope one day we can change the world with that, for sure.”
“It was challenging at first. But then after, probably after a month, I got used to it,” Uzi said about Pink Tape, their forthcoming album, in a recent interview. “I thought that my creative process wasn’t going to be the same because I wasn’t on drugs no more. It was the same. Even better. Because I could think more clear and I could actually, like, instead of my words slurring, which is kinda of cool, everything made sense. I didn’t just make random music. How can I say? I didn’t play off the beat. I actually made song with topics this time.”
