This week RMR is continuing our segment New Music Monday where we share fire music from the past week. Today, we have some great songs that will help you end your summer on the right note!
A lot of incredible tunes were released this week across multiple genres. For this episode, we are again focusing on new hip-hop and electronic songs, as well as some pop-influenced tracks. Our list includes Lil Durk, Quavo, Gucci Mane and many more!
“F*ck U Thought” – Lil Durk
To kick things off, Lil Durk released his new single titled “F*ck U Thought.” It is a follow-up to his hit album Almost Healed, which was released at the beginning of the summer. “F*ck U Thought” is extremely high energy, with some great production and rapping. Production-wise, the song starts off with a midi piano, then a trap-influenced beat kicks in. On this track, Lil Durk once again raps like no other and proves why he deserves to be at the top of the charts. It is worth giving it a listen!
“Blood Moon (feat. Lil Uzi Vert)” – Mike WiLL Made-It
We also got a new song from Mike WiLL Made-It and Lil Uzi Vert this week. “Blood Moon” is set to be the first single off of Mike WiLL’s upcoming recording. J. Cole also hops on the track as a co-producer helping make the production super unique. Lil Uzi Vert dominates the vocals and lyrics on the track. Overall, it’s a great collaboration!
“I THINK (feat. Lil Baby)”- EST Gee
Staying in the hip-hop category, EST Gee and Lil Baby released an amazing collaboration, with their new tune “I THINK.” The song is on EST GEE’s new record EL TORO 2, which is set to be a hit. Both rappers have their own moments on the track, and rap over a great beat and some beautiful piano chords.
“Forever (feat. Lil Baby)” – Ciara
Ciara’s new release is in our ears as well. The song is titled “Forever” and it’s another track Lil Baby lends his talent to. Ciara’s vocals are gorgeous and the song combines her R&B influences with Lil Baby’s hip-hop influences beautifully.
“Boyfriend” – Usher
In the pop-influenced category for New Music Monday, Usher released a great new song “Boyfriend.” The song is a mix of classic Usher music, with some modern influences, such as a great 808 beat. His vocals are amazing as usual and the song is worth checking out.
“Empty”- Russ
Russ’s new release “Empty” has been in our ears all weekend. The song includes a great high-hat driven 808 beat but also includes some beautiful live piano and guitar parts. Russ’s vocal style is dope and the lyrics on “Empty” are super deep.
“The Good Kind” – Larry June & Cardo
Larry June and Cardo released their most recent collaboration “The Good Kind” on August 16. The chemistry between them is evident in this song and it is a great end of the summer vibe. They also released a great music video for the tune which features the pair on a boat, it is worth watching.
“BLICKY” – NEMS & Scram Jones
NEMS and Scram Jones recently released their new collaboration album, RISE OF THE SILVERBACK. “BLICKY” is a standout song off the new album, and it is super intense. From vulgar lyrics to heavy production, the song keeps the listener’s attention the whole way through.
“Broken Hearted” – Gucci Mane
Gucci Mane also gave us a great new song this week. “Broken Hearted” contains some super-vulnerable lyrics as well as some great vocals from Gucci Mane. It is definitely a more emotional side of the rapper.
“Bonjour (feat. NLE Choppa)” – Gambi
Next on New Music Monday, French Rapper Gambi’s newest single is another track that shouldn’t be missed. It features NLE Choppa who has been killing it recently. The song contains an incredible horn part and a great energetic beat. As well as the amazing instrumental, over half the lyrics are in French, adding another interesting aspect to the song.
“Show & Tell (feat. Freddie Gibbs)” – Mick Jenkins
Another hip-hop release that has been in our ears this week is “Show & Tell” by Freddie Gibbs and Mick Jenkins. This is another song with some great instrumental parts, even including a gorgeous string bed. The vocals and lyrics are incredible as well.
“How Could I Not?” – LaRussell
LaRussell released an incredible song this week as well. The tune features quite a few other musicians including Tope, Guapdad 4000, and Infinite. “How Could I Not?” has a super fun beat and some great lyrics. Check it out!
“Cold Run” – G Perico
Another sick hip-hop track released this week is G Perico’s “Cold Run.” The song is short but sweet, clocking in at only 1 minute 25 seconds. Despite the short run time, G Perico still conveys his message through the lyrics and the catchy beat gets stuck in the listener’s head.
“I’m The Reason” – Drakeo the Ruler
Drakeo the Ruler is back with another sick tune “I’m The Reason.” The song includes a classic, modern hip-hop beat. It also showcases Drakeo’s iconic offbeat cadences and unique delivery. Altogether making the song showcase of his talent.
“Back to Where It Begins (feat. Future and Takeoff)” – Quavo
Last on our list for New Music Monday this week is Quavo, Future and Takeoff’s dope collaboration “Back to Where It Begins.” The song truly shows the talent of all the individual artists involved. They all have distinct styles and together they elevate the track. The production is also amazing do yourself a favor and give it a listen!
