There is no denying Lewie is one of the hottest artists in the PNW right now. After a recent show with Lil Durk in Oklahoma, Lewie is ready to get lit with his hometown people. You can catch him at Alma Mater on October 21st with other notable local artists such as Blockrepp Shad, Cashier, and Mack Murda. Newer faces in the game, like 2000Baby, will kick off the show and have the place jumping so make sure to get there on time!
For Lewie, it’s about more than just making music and money. He wants to put on for his community, to be a role model and make a tangible difference that lasts. With that in mind, Lewie has decided to donate 10% of the proceeds to local AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) teams. If you know any local AAU teams, go to Lewie’s Instagram post below and comment/tag them!
Lewie has been through a lot in the past few years, including being blackballed by the Tacoma Police Department. He is ready to take back what’s his and bring Tacoma into the upper echelon of respect in the hip-hop community.
With summer coming to a close, this is one show you do not want to miss. Click here to buy tickets and check out this quick exclusive interview with Lewie about what this means to him and what he hopes to do for his city.
Lewie Talks Performing at Alma Mater And More [Exclusive Interview]
*Edited For Clarity*
What does it mean to you being back performing in your own city at Alma Mater after what went down with TPD a few years back, stopping all your shows?
It means everything. I beat the obstacles set in front of me and will beat whatever obstacles are left. It shows self perseverance. I just want the date [October 21st] to hurry up and come. See my family, friends, and my new fans. All my fans are like family.
What do you hope to do for hip-hop culture in Tacoma and for the city itself?
I want to give my people hope, I am the hope. I feel like when certain people make it, we all make it or get exposure to make it.
What made you want to donate 10% of the show proceeds to 2 local AAU teams? Was AAU a big part of your life growing up?
Sports is a big thing growing up in Tacoma. I played in AAU growing up and just know how important it is to the youth. I want to make sure I stay connected to where I’m from even if it isn’t for money, can just be for meetings or whatever.
