This week RMR is continuing our segment New Music Monday where we share fire music from the past week. Today, we have some great songs for you to check out!
A lot of incredible tunes were released this week across multiple genres. For this episode, we are again focusing on new hip-hop and electronic songs, as well as some pop-influenced tracks. Our list includes Killer Mike, Drake, 21 Savage and many more!
“YES!” – Killer Mike
This week the deluxe version of Killer Mike’s album, Michael, was released after a successful reception to the original version. The album is stocked full of great tunes including four new tracks, with one of the standout songs being “YES!”, the 15th track. The song has a snappy beat and a great use of choir, that is acting as a part of the rhythm section. Killer Mike is rapping like no other, Michael is set to be one of the best Hip-hop releases of 2023.
“Slime You Out (feat. SZA)” – Drake
To kick things off on a strong note, Drake and SZA released an incredible collaboration this week titled “Slime You Out.” The song is an emotional R&B tune that includes some gorgeous vocals from both artists. Although this is the pair’s first official collaboration, they have been referencing each other in their songs for a while now. The song is beautiful and worth a listen.
“Never Die (feat. Lil Wayne)” – Nas
Nas released a great tune as well; the song is titled “Never Die” featuring the one and only Lil Wayne. Throughout the track, Nas raps about his longevity in the music industry stating “We ain’t gon’ never die, I’m an icon in real-time.” This song further proves how incredible Nas is.
“Angels Will Fly”- Brady Watt, Sauce Walka, Bun B and Royce da 5’9″
Next on New Music Monday, another great collaboration released this week is Brady Watt, Sauce Walka and Bun B’s “Angels Will Fly.” The production is a sick combination of great effects, a great piano and even choir-like backing vocals. On top of this, all of the rapping and lead vocals are incredible.
“Turks & Caicos (feat. 21 Savage)” – Rod Wave
Rod Wave and 21 Savage’s newest song “Turks and Caicos” has been in our ears all week! This piano driven track is full of great bars from both rappers, as well as a great hook! Rod Wave is killing it as usual.
“Hellcats SRTs 2”- Sexxy Red & Lil Durk
Two of the biggest hip-hop artists in the world right now Sexxy Red and Lil Durk gave us some absolute fire this week. “Hellcats SRTs 2” is filled with hilarious lines from both rappers and is insanely catchy. Put in it your ears!
“$outhside Story (feat. Common)” – VIC MENSA
This week VIC MENSA released his newest studio album Victor. “$outhside Story” is a tribute track to the Southside of Chicago, where Mensa is from. The song includes a bunch of deep and moving lines from both artists. It’s an extremely impactful song that everyone should give a listen to.
“Arena!” – Sega Bodega & Safety Trance
In the electronic category for this week Sega Bodega and Safety Trance released an absolute banger. “Arena!” not only includes an incredible electronic bass line and complex beat, but also some great vocal hooks. This track is set to take over the EDM club scene!
