K.O. Mason is a rapper from the east side of Chicago that decided to take music seriously in 2015. A switch flipped in his head and he decided to take all of the anger and pain he collected and channel it into making wealth. It all started from posting unpolished records on Facebook, now he’s built up an organic following, and pursuing music transformed a hobby into a career. It’s apparent from his official music video for “Take That” that Mason has some real skill and creativity to bring to the hip-hop game.
The “Take That” music video starts out with a heavy and playful beat and a home invasion in progress. Mason hears something amiss outside his home and quickly takes action. It doesn’t take long for invaders to realize they fucked with the wrong homeowner. Mason quickly takes them out and spits fierce bars with the home invaders tied up in the background. Mason shows them why he goes by K.O.
The music video is so entertaining, you might miss how good the song actually is. The wordplay and delivery are on point and make you remember how dope the Midwest’s hip-hop scene is. K.O. Mason is garnering a cult following by going against the grain of current hip-hop trends and staying true to his ’90s soulful hip-hop roots.
