Get the bag. A phrase that has been made popularized in in American culture today and is commonly used by kids and sometimes even their parents when it pertains to getting money. What many don’t know is this term has a dark past. “Another Bag” by June the Legend depicts that story and the danger that really comes when you’re on the streets getting a bag. Featuring King Leez and Blockrepp Shad. The three depict life on the streets as a (bag) runner starting with the initial call that leads to the intercept. From there we follow the journey of the bag as it goes from hand to hand.
June the Legend – “Another Bag”
“Another Bag” is a trap hit with a melodic beat, unforgiving lyrics, and production that incorporates elements that add an intensity to the song and overall story being told. A banger single off his upcoming album, Checkered Flags and Money Bags, dropping October 23. One of my favorite moments that sets the tone for the song comes at the 2:20 when we hear.
“ni**a trip I’mma squeeze on him
Blockrepp Shad – “Another Bag”
Squeeze on him like skinny jeans
Riding ‘round with the semi thing
20 pounds in that hemi thing
Five rounds then I leave the scene”
This bar is followed by a barrage of bullet sounds, yelling, and tire screeches which gives us about as close to understanding as we can get about the life being depicted. While it may sound chaotic, it’s a controlled chaos that brings out the thug in you like some dormant symbiotic monster. Just don’t get overzealous and quit your day job.
