A Musicians Journey
Teed grew up listening to alternative musicians like Linkin Park, MGMT, and The Gorillaz. Their use of electronic music elements stuck out to him. He became instantly hooked once he heard this practice reach its fullest potential in EDM and bass music.
“It filled a musical void for me that I never even knew I had, honestly.” He said, “I grew up with music my whole life and had let it fall to the wayside for a few years, but the endlessly open creative possibilities of producing really reignited my passion for music.”
Teed’s musical journey has taken him farther than he could have imagined ten years ago. Performing his music has taken him all over the United States and given him the chance to share the stage with some of his biggest inspirations. He has no intention of slowing down, but if he were to pull the plug tomorrow, he would still say that he’s accomplished more than he thought he was capable of at the start of his career.
The Making of ‘Taking It All In’
‘Taking It All In’ was released on March 7. The EP was inspired by thoughts he had time to sit with while touring last year. Spending a lot of time traveling between show locations during the tour amazed him with just how fast life can move.
“It felt like days would turn to weeks in the blink of an eye. I realized just how easy it is to get sucked into the rush of life and miss out on the things happening around you,” said Teed. “I made a promise to myself that no matter how crazy things got, I’d always find the time to take moments to ‘Take It All In.’ I wanted to create a body of work that reflected all the experiences life has to offer if you approach it with an open mind and just ‘take in’ all the things it sends your way!”
The Journey Forward
‘Taking It All In’ is essential to Teeds’ musical journey. The change in the vibe of his music reflects this period of growth for him musically and personally. The complete project is reminiscent of some of the best moments of his life so far. Moments he will hold the memories from these experiences close.
This EP took Teed a lot of time and work. Now that it is out for the world to hear, it takes a weight off his shoulders. It excites him and brings him happiness to see the positive response to it so far.
“I was lucky to work with some of the best vocalists out there, in my opinion,” he said. “ Another thing that made the process different for me on this one is that I didn’t record any violin on it! That has always been a mainstay for my productions, and it was fun and challenging to fill out the melodic space that the violin usually occupies!”
Currently, Teed is on tour. Performing is Teed’s happy place, and he finds himself lost in the music. Since he’s been performing since childhood, being on stage feels like a second home to him so much that he has extended his tour until the end of June this year.
Teed doesn’t see himself stopping anytime soon and will continue to make music for the rest of his life. He looks forward to seeing all the changes his music will go through. “I foresee lots more time on the road, constant pushing of boundaries when it comes to live instruments in electronic music, and a lot more music to come.”
