Over the course of the last few years Jaywop has been dropping his own brand of rap that’s as brooding and jazzy as it is colorful and psychedelic. Whether he’s spitting over some watery keyboards or a harder, trap instrumental, Jaywop’s personality and confidence on the mic shines through. On his newest release “Gold”, hits us with a nocturnal, smoky track that serves as a perfect representation of the album it lands on, Suede.
“Gold” opens with a mix of dark, almost ominous, guitar and drums. Then Jaywop comes in with some cold and steady bars about an ex trying to come back after a failed relationship. After a voicemail snippet transition, the record sees rising Atlanta star and Dreamville collaborator, Deanté Hitchcock on the mic for a verse that fits right into the vibe of the track. Together they are really able to infuse and add to the atmosphere in a huge way.
Don’t miss Jaywop’s latest album, Suede, for a journey of smooth, jazzy production and tons of artistic personality. The 7-track album rides with a cohesive feel and features Innanet James, LIV†t, and Jade Amar.
