Jake One is a local legend here in Seattle and he was finally on Mass Appeal’s Rhythm Roulette back in September.
If you’re not familiar with Rhythm Roulette it goes down like this. Producer walks into record store. Producer then puts blindfold on. Once blindfolded, they grab 3 random records to find a sample and craft a beat.
Jake One makes a classic Jake One sounding record and utilizes sample’s from all the records to create almost every element of the beat. As Jake mentions in the video, that doesn’t happen ever.
The Snare Jordan producer is one of Seattle’s most prominent hip-hop legends. Over the past few years he has placed beats with J. Cole, Drake, Chance The Rapper, and crafted the sample for Jay-Z and Future’s ‘I Got The Keys.’
