In 2020, the unthinkable happened. The city that never sleeps shuttered the Strip. We thought hell must have finally frozen over. But Sin City won’t stay down. And while live performance was canceled for most of the year, Las Vegas hip–hop artists are punching into 2021 bigger and badder than ever.
These artists have gathered hundreds of thousands of loyal followers and millions of YouTube views from home, gaining legit potential for big success over the coming decade. Get in the know now and be the first on your block to bump these stellar beats.
Dylan Jacob
Freemont street rapper and Vegas native Dylan Jacob’s stint on hit TV Show “The Four” at age 16 earned big props from P Diddy, DJ Khaled, and Meghan Trainor. Now 19, Jacob’s Melodic Heartfelt Trap style tops heavy 808’s with lyrical melodies. His YouTube vlog, “The Suite Life of Dylan Jacob” takes fans behind Freemont Street’s underground music scene. P.S. you can still catch him freestyling on Freemont.
Baby Keem
Vegas native and cousin to Kendrick Lamar, Baby Keem made XXL’s Freshman Class 2020 and released two new singles, “Hooligan,” and “Sons & Critics Freestyle” in 2020. Delivering deep one liners punctuated by meme-worthy nonsense atop a resounding 808, Keem is snappin into 2021.
Ekoh
Ekoh doesn’t just spit conscious hip-hop, he blazes Heart Hop. A staple of the Vegas music scene, his soulful messaging and glow with the flow hit bullseyes. Blurring the lines between genres, Ekoh’s inclusive and relatable style just keeps getting better.
Veronica Cooper
Born in Vegas and raised on the East Coast, Veronica Cooper’s style meshes a bi-coastal blend of hip-hop with R&B and pop. Back in Vegas, baby, Vee Coop’s crazy flow skills and trap/indie/pop beats are straight fire. The proof is in the pudding.
Wolf Dotson
Wolf Dotson might be the most underrated hip-hop artist in Las Vegas today, but don’t expect it to stay that way for long. Smooth lyrical stylings and nostalgic loops lead into a creamy-sounding hip-hop mix perfect for kicking back to with a dab.
Yowda
Repping LV hard as part of Rick Ross’s MMG, prolific creator Yowda never stops working on his art, a catchy mix of pop-rap and gangster rap perfect for clubbing. Boasting collabs with 2 Chainz and YG, Yowda sums up the city’s music vibe in an interview with AllHipHop.com, “The hip-hop scene’s cool, you just gotta tap in.”
Dat Boi Skeet
Boasting a slew of collabs with up and coming names in hip-hop, Skeet’s newest, Talk of the Town, dropped on Thanksgiving, featuring trap beats backing gritty street rap with artists like Dababy and Yella Beezy.
D. Cross
Fans call him Cross da Boss. He calls himself CBD. Whatever you call him, battle rapper and North Las Vegas native D. Cross dug his way out of the gravelly street trenches with a talent for punchlines and sick bars. He may be about to break out (he opened for The Game’s European “45” tour), but his heart belongs to Vegas. In a recent interview, Cross says, “I want to do it for the city. I don’t really care about anywhere else.”
Pooh Pistols
Pooh Pistols spent 2020 laying down introspective tracks set to trappy Vegas-style club beats for new project Pistol Paccin’ Project Reloaded. “Chop Sticcs,” his newest trap rap video collab with James West, serves up bouncy beats set to dark visuals contrasting a glittery opening shot of the Strip. So Dopehouse.
Tha Landlord
Over the past year, Tha Landlord came honest with gritty bars and trippy trap beats, grinding on the collective pain 2020 dealt the LV music scene in his latest single, “Landemic.” Watch for more bad-assery from this Vegas native in 2021.
