Hot Music Friday Featuring Gucci Mane, DJ Drama, Caroline Polachek and More

Spring is here and we’re going to help you soundtrack it just right. This Hot Music Friday, we bring you a colorful blend—from dark to vibrant—of music that’ll fit every mood of the incoming season. You’ll recognize some of these names and get a first taste of the others, but we promise it’s all top-tier stuff.

With music from Gucci Mane, Boogie T, Japanese Breakfast and more, the following list will take you on an unpredictable journey. Check it out!

Hot Music Friday – April 7, 2023

“06 Gucci” – Gucci Mane (feat. DaBaby & 21 Savage)

This right here is trap royalty — a “what if” come true. No one really stands a chance against the trifecta of Gucci ManeDaBaby and 21 Savage, so we figured it’s best to kick off our Hot Music Friday list with this one.

“Who the plug?” – Le$

Huston all-star Le$ has been at it for a minute, yet he just keeps getting better. With a deep catalog of LPs and mixtapes, this pick exemplifies his skill. He’s smooth like butter and we got proof.

“FMFU” – DJ Drama (feat. Lil Wayne, Roddy Rich & Gucci Mane)

Here’s another A-list collaboration that seems too good to be true, and it’s got Gucci again! This cut from DJ Drama’s latest album, I’M REALLY LIKE THAT, showcases each artist’s winning traits and shows us why they’re considered the best at what they do.

“Bom Bom” – MikeJack3200

This one goes way too hard and is probably the most fitting song for Hot Music Friday because it is on fire. The hip-hop community loves a good Sister Nancy sample, but you’ve never heard anything like this before. The way MikeJack3200 rides this heavy hitter is something that’ll make you lose your balance.

“Rob Lowe” – UGLYFRANK

It’s no secret that UGLYFRANK got bars, but this joint almost feels scientific. It’s unclear when exactly he takes a moment to breathe because he just keeps going. Through it all, he keeps it fresh, crisp and on point.

“Smokin’ Dat Spliff” – Boogie T

We had to throw one in for our weed smokers (though honestly, most of these songs work pretty well for a quick sesh). Boogie T, however, caters specifically to that crowd because he sure knows how to enhance a high.

“Next Shot” – 12th Planet (feat. Vulgatron)

If you close your eyes while this is on, you’ll most likely transport to a forest rave. That’s the amazing thing about music — you can travel for free because it unlocks your imagination. 12th Planet’s wizardry is in full effect on this track.

“Smoke” – Caroline Polachek

One of the most talented pop singer-songwriters in the game, Caroline Polachek is simply incapable of being boring. Her material is textured with great precision, so it’s only natural that we notice the amount of work she puts in and give her some love — it’s a fair trade.

“Paprika” – Japanese Breakfast

The golden child of the indie scene, Michelle Zauner is going nowhere. Her group, Japanese Breakfast, remains at the top and continues to make waves in the music domain. This stripped-down version of their most recent album’s opening track will show you exactly why they’re championed.

“Raving Ghost” – Olivia Jean

This one’s fresh out of the oven, so we had to serve it to you on Hot Music Friday. This is just good old-fashioned blues rock but with a modern twist. Pretty much all things Olivia Jean are extraordinary, but this one in particular stands out.
