Family Over Everything
During my time at Central Washington University, Respect My Region developed incredibly powerful relationships with many of the people who always had our backs. People who supported us from day 1 have always been held close to our hearts and now it is our turn to help out one of our fellow RMR family members.
On October 7th, our brother and good friend, Kevin Bird was a passenger in a car driving home from Des Moines when the driver lost control. The vehicle rolled several times before finally hitting a tree and flipping onto the passenger side. Kevin survived the impact but was severely injured and rushed into surgery. Major injuries to Kevin’s head, shoulders, and vertebrae have forced him to receive multiple surgeries already and one these actually removed 6 inches from his skull.
The full extent of the damage to Kevin is unknown at this point, leaving projected bills to be upwards of $100,000 after insurance! There’s no way in hell any one of us at RMR could cover his medical expenses all at once but with the help of our friends, family, and supporters, we know that we can at least make a big dent in the Bird family’s bill.
Help us help our friend get back to being healthy! #FamilyOverEverything

“Kevin Bird, age 25 years old, was born and raised just outside of Seattle, WA in Auburn his whole life. He attended Central Washington University and has always been surrounded by many loving friends and family. Kevin started a sales position for the past 6 months while running his new business, a food delivery service, he recently started with one of his friends. He is a lover of all kinds of sports, fitness, socializing with friends, and being close to his family with his future being very bright.
On the night of Wednesday, October 7th, Kevin was a passenger to a car driving home from Des Moines when the driver lost control and the car rolled several times before finally hitting a tree. 911 was called immediately. Kevin was in the passenger seat wearing his seat belt when the vehicle had flipped on Kevin’s side. His right shoulder and his head were the most impacted from the crash. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the doctors didn’t waste any time and started to perform surgery on him, first to remove 6 inches from his skull. The second procedure was to stop the uncontrollable bleeding that was occurring from behind his face which needed a second surgery after it began bleeding again. Then the list of procedures that the family has learned has just kept getting longer. Kevin will be undergoing many more operations on his face, which has experienced extensive facial fractures, fractures on his C2 vertebrea and possible fractures on his L4 and L5 vertebreas, not to mention possible brain injuries.
The good news is, Kevin will survive. He will most likely have to live with what has happened through rehab and recovery for several years and he may not be the same Kevin everyone knows and loves, but he will survive. He has even responded to the nurses that have asked him to wiggle his toes and raise his right or left thumb and he does!
The journey to get back to a normal life will be long and painful and that is why the Bird family could use your help! Every single penny raised for Kevin will be going not only towards his medical bills but also his rehab and recovery months after. Though the bills have not been received yet since the accident has happened so soon and Kevin’s injuries are still not fully known, the projected cost of this horrible incident will be costing the family six figures, even after insurance.
The time is now. Kevin needs as much support and prayers that he can get to get his life back to normal. His strong-willed nature along with all the love and prayers he has already received has been helping him get through this so far but the journey is very long from being over.
Any donations to Kevin are extremely appreciated by his family as they are experiencing this difficult time. Please help Kevin and his family now and make a donation!” – The Bird Family
