HBO surprise-released a trailer for a new series relating to the wildly successful action-drama Game Of Thrones. Titled House Of The Dragon, this new show is actually a prequel to the original series. Furthermore, these new episodes are based upon a heavily referenced period of time in the series. Specifically, House Of The Dragon focuses on the Targaryen family around 200-300 years before the original series takes place.
Based upon George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, this new show will take place in Westeros during a time of great political upheaval. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it is a time that sets “sibling against sibling” and “dragon against dragon.” Martin told Rotten Tomatoes, “It was actually the first concept I pitched to HBO when we started talking about a successor show, way back in the summer of 2016.”

According to Rolling Stone, the new HBO series will be released some time in 2022. The series was announced in 2020 paired with a note that they would begin production in 2021. Naturally, fans of Game of Thrones are ecstatic and the attitude towards the new teaser generally seems positive.
