Good Energy is an artist that is originally from Seattle but has spent time growing up in California, San Antonio, and South Carolina. Each of these places has put a unique impact on the overall sound that he creates. With each song, you get a little taste of where he’s been, what he’s gone through, and the music reflects it all. Boom-bap vibes, street anthems, Bay Area bounce, pop-rap, bedroom bangers—you name it.
Good Energy has a classic vibe that can appeal to younger and older folks alike looking for solid production and relatable bars. Back in mid-October he put out his most recent joint-project with T-Gamer known as Room Keys and Choosing Fees.
It all began back in 2010 when Good Energy began using GarageBand to start recording his own cuts. Some of the first artists he was collaborating with include HP The GameGod, D Man, Dundee, and Pyro. His first formal project was laid down in Portland while working with all of these artists. This man has literally been moving all over, collaborating with all kinds of people and catching a multitude of vibes. His most recent project with T-Gamer is a shining example of his versatility and aversion to any specific sound. Good Energy goes all over the map, but in a way that melds hip-hop genres and doesn’t come across contrived.
Good Energy
Throughout the Room Keys and Choosing Fees album you can hear nods to many artists Good Energy grew up bumping on repeat. Some of these include Mac Dre, Master P, Snoop, Jadakiss and others. Erykah Badu, Donell Jones, and Gospel music also played a big role in developing his own sound. A strong G-Funk element is present in a lot of Good Energy’s tracks that takes me back to a different time in hip-hop, but still adds subtle modern nuances that make it slap in today’s scene.
This man has been busy as hell in 2019. Earlier this year, Good Energy let loose two different full-length albums that each boast over 12 tracks (Eros & Energizer.) Earlier this year he performed with Jewel Simo at her modeling events. He also opened a show for Gwopp and Mozzy in Yakima back in August before coming back to perform in Seattle. He then went to go perform a couple of shows in Las Vegas before returning to perform in Tacoma in October for the release of the project.
Good Energy has an undeniable hustle to his artistry that evokes a magnetic vibe to him as a performer and an emcee. He’s currently looking to expand his audience and has been working on several videos with Hunnid K Servo, who’s also been recording all of Good Energy’s new tunes. Keep it locked with everything this man is up to because his energy is literally never-ending it seems. Find his song “Louie Bag” on Respect My Region’s “Lowkey Fire” Spotify playlist!
