Getter is an interesting guy to say the least. His music ranges from ear shattering dub-step, orchestrated screamo, to heavy bass beats. Once again he’s brought us a disturbing masterpiece. Let me introduce ‘Napalm’.
This new EP, released Oct. 30th brings us six songs of pure head-bangin’. The first track, ENTOMBMENT, is simply an introduction of what’s to come as the songs increase in not only tempo but rage. Notably, all six tracks bleed into each other making the listening experience flawless.
As the EP builds we see a soft landing as you arrive to the last track, HOLE IN THE BOAT. This final cut is slow hitting as you drift in and out of the ominous lyrics and delicate synths. An intentional ending if you ask me.
We hadn’t seen any major releases from Getter since his full length album ‘Visceral’ dropped back in 2018. The album proved his dynamic abilities as an artist breaking down genre barriers showing his versatility as a producer.
Blast from the Past:
Subjectively, Getter has been through a lot as an individual and within his successful career. In my opinion, his personal troubles are what make his music so raw and emotional when listening. I often times feel my heart pull when I hear some of his tracks due to the sheer honesty felt between each beat.
A lot of artist produce music to according to their audience– yet Getter does the opposite. He gives us pure uncensored, unsolicited pain, anger, and fear. I’ve seen him get criticism for this yet he comes back swinging with something that screams F*ck You to all his haters.
True talent and genius will always be questioned, but that’s what makes it so powerful. Give ‘Napalm’ a listen, as if the title isn’t telling enough. If you find yourself curious, delve a little deeper into his discography. You won’t regret it.
If you’re craving something a bit more downtempo, house duo Camelphat released a hypnotizing full length album ‘Dark Matter’. Immerse yourself in purity.
