We’ve reviewed close to 40 strains for this year’s West Coast Weed Tour. Out of all the flavors sampled, our founder Mitch Pfeifer wouldn’t shut up about Urban Canna’s Gelato Cake strain. But let’s take his opinion with a grain of salt, the guy obviously has a Gelato bias after reviewing four different cuts this year alone.
This is my first time experiencing the Gelato Cake strain, but after I found out the Cake part comes from the Wedding Cake strain, I felt a tinge of excitement run down my spine. Wedding Cake is a cultivar that I’ve covered somewhat extensively. Many brands have produced great cuts and it’s still one of my go-to purchases. Once it was combined with Gelato 33, the doughy gas aromas are jacked through the roof. The dense flowers contain the smell well, but once it’s broken down it permeates through the room and bounces off the walls. I already see why Mitch was possessed by this one.
Smooth earthy flavors with hints of sweetness come through the smoke nicely. It reads 31 percent THC and it hits like it too. Once small bowl sent a quivery body high down my shoulders and arms. I suggest starting with a small slice of the Gelato Cake strain to make sure you don’t go too deep.
Urban Canna isn’t going to blow you away with fancy packaging, but that’s because you can smell the weed before you buy it in Oregon. So trust your nose and trust Mitch, he obviously knows a good Gelato strain when he sees it.
