Fusion Babies Light Up the Long Beach Gutter Punk Scene

Fusion Babies Light Up The Long Beach Gutter Punk Scene

The Long Beach crust and gutter punk scene has been blessed with more femme energy from riot core rockstars, Fusion Babies. Meet Dro (Lead Vocals), Valentine (Bass), Summer (Guitar), Brain (Guitar), and Lorenzo (Drums).

These cats have been playing music together for only two years and some change, but they’re a tight unit that knows how to get down to a variety of beats to get everyone moving and moshing. They’ll be the first to tell you how important family is and some of the loudest protesters in town when minorities are under “Earth, Wind and Fire.”

Fusion Babies Sounds like Queen Spirit

Right off the bat, these femmes help wake me up with the first track, “global anxiety,” as we all might wake up with, first thing in the morning. That was followed by the track “can’t tell me”; both of these introductory songs showcase Dro’s vocal range and screaming technique.

Throughout the album, there is such a flexible and heavy sound that is never short of fun and powerful. An extremely talented ensemble of musicians has come together to empower one another, and you can hear it. You can listen to the band’s album conception, which is out on all streaming platforms as of this year.

Ladies, to the Front!

Fusion Babies started with the original four (Sandra (Dro), Valentine, Summer, and Tate), but the fam keeps growing with allies and radical acceptance galore. This type of performance art is important; Punk music is important. I love riot babies, and how they can’t shut up about the truth that women, neurodivergence, and people of color matter.

Scream your heart out if you can keep up with the band and their high energy showmanship. All while even more performers partake in adding to the immersive experience: clowns on display, gory slapstick gallows humor with sewn cotton intestines and what feels like pantyhose.

As the band expands beyond their Long Beach roots, cities like Los Angeles get to experience these magicians now too. November kicked off with a bang at The Moroccan Lounge, which is an amazing venue with good people both at the door and the bar. Fusion Babies has more shows coming up and will be traveling all over. Please find them here and support all your local artists, especially the femme superstars in your life!
