Cannabis legalization is changing the economic and business landscape of the entire culture. The grand majority of these changes like decriminalization and job creation are necessary and long overdue. However, the switch from selling in a black market to a taxed and regulated bureaucracy is anything but smooth. Flow Kana wants to build the bridge between the logistical maze of legalization and the Northern California farmers that perfected their craft in the shadows helping, create the base of cannabis culture in America.
Flow Kana is a bridge between craft cannabis production and the massive legal challenges levied on farmers. A legal market brings variables like distribution, following the tax code, compliance, marketing, and others that must be accounted for. Humbolt and Mendocino County are important ecosystems for cannabis culture because of their history and product quality. Many of the sun-grown and organic farming happening in Northern California can only happen here because of the special climate. Flow Kana saw an opportunity to partner with small farms to keep their unique brands alive while letting them compete with the big business and investor money.
How Flow Kana Does It
Last year, they opened a massive processing and distribution center called the Flow Cannabis Institute. This former winery has the capacity to service each one of the farms they work with. Farmers send their harvest to a full-fledged cannabis logistics HQ to be tested, packaged, and shipped to dispensaries. Leaving the farmers to farm, and Flow Kana to handle the rest.
Over 30 small-tier organic and sustainable farms are listed under Flow Kana’s website and they worked with over 200 last year alone, according to Heidi Minx of Flow Kana’s PR team. Their partners are providing a completely different cannabis experience from the likes of their indoor grown counterparts. They do this by focusing on sustainable farming techniques like permaculture farming, dry farming, and sun-grown. You simply can’t find the cannabis produced in the Emerald Triangle anywhere else in the world.
Flow Kana is busy enough with Northern California, but they still keep their eyes on the rest of the country’s legalization prospects and what that could mean for their future.
“On the federal level, Flow Kana belongs to the National Cannabis Industry Association. Our primary federal priority is the passage of the SAFE Banking Act in 2019. We are also excited about Senator Wyden’s recent introduction of the State Cannabis Commerce Act which would enable commerce between consenting states.” Michael Wheeler, VP of Policy for Flow Kana said in an email.
You can purchase flower and pre-rolls from one or many of their numerous Northern California/Bay area locations. Some of their partners like Eel River Organics offer cannabis concentrates and vape cartridges. They also sell bulk flower and trim for those interested in purchasing large quantities.
