This year, Marshall Law Band and friends are making it a ‘December to Remember’ with a unique music series that doubles as a fundraiser to help the ongoing homeless and mental health crisis. Their main event, the Emerald City Gala, will be taking over Neumos, Barboza, and The Runaway on December 23rd. Along with collecting donations, 20 different artists will be performing on three different stages. Join Marshall Law Band, Scarlet Parke and more of the city’s top talents for a night of giving back to our community.
Earlier in the month, two other events were held to further help spread awareness and to collect more donations. On December 16th, MLB and family celebrated six years of Mo’ Jam Mondays at Nectar Lounge. Meanwhile, they gathered supplies to help comfort those who are homeless this holiday season.
Before that, on the 12th, Macntaj, Taane Jr., Mr. Hentai, and Haiku took the stage at the Crocodile. They were raising money to donate to Hold Your Crown, a non-profit organization started by King Youngblood (formerly Gypsy Temple) to give the youth access to ways to treat mental health and to reassure them that they’re not alone.

The executive director of Hold Your Crown, Cory Cavazos, spoke on the issues at hand. “As a society, we are not doing enough to equip youth struggling with mental illness with the resources needed to live healthy and successful lives. The stigma surrounding mental illness creates barriers to accessing treatment.”
Cavazos continues, “Lack of mental health education, community resources, and positive role models leaves many feeling isolated and hopeless. Too often these factors contribute to youth homelessness and this is why the Hold Your Crown campaign is so excited to team with the Marshall Law Band and Macntaj to help those who need it most here in Seattle during the holidays.”
Cozy Connections Christmas Donations
If you’d like to help out, you can donate to the Hold Your Crown project. Or, bring donations out to the Emerald City Gala on December 23rd. Supplies needed include sleeping bags, backpacks, tents, sweatshirts, beanies, gloves, body wash, hygiene, and hand warmers. These items will be distributed at a special Christmas day event on Occidental Square in collaboration with Seattle nonprofit, Cozy Connections. In 2018, more than 1,000 people experiencing homelessness attended the event.
“We at Cozy Connections have been serving those in need on Christmas Day for 12 years. Amazing things can happen when we all come together and remember what the holidays are really about, giving. Huge thank you to the Marshall Law Band and all the artists involved in the Emerald City Gala.”
