Drake takes another shot at the cannabis industry by opening his first weed dispensary ever in Ontario today.
It was announced in September that Bullrider Cannabis would open in Brampton, a suburb in the Greater Toronto Area. This comes as a surprise when considering that inner city Toronto seemed like a no-brainer choice for the 6ix God.

Why Did Drake Open Bullrider Cannabis Dispensary in Brampton?
Though the flagship store is located in Brampton, the Bullrider official website notes that they are based out of Toronto. So why Brampton?
Max Zavet, chairman for Bullrider Cannabis said that, “Brampton fits our cannabis farmgate model so that we can grow and sell onsite. It’s also close to major hubs, Mississauga and Vaughan, both of which do not have any cannabis retail presence.”
With that said, they do have long-term plans to get a retail shop out in Toronto according to Zavet.
For today, the grand opening in Brampton is the first step in a long-term plan for Bullrider Cannabis. This includes a collaboration with Ozzy’s Burgers and special deals for customers. Because Bullrider is curating a convergence of street art, hip-hop, and top-quality cannabis products, the store is decorated with art by Kwest, steel sculptures, and Drake album art.
The name of the shop comes from the cultivars and strain Afghani Bullrider. Not only are they combining this big strain and their cannabis farmgate model, but they are also focusing on medicinal and therapeutic healing from cannabis. Last month, Shebib expressed that he uses cannabis for more than just recreational use due to his multiple sclerosis (MS). So their involvement goes further than just business.
Drake, Canopy Growth, and More Life Growth
Bullrider Cannabis is another business venture Drake has jumped into with his OVO co-founder and music producer Noah “40” Shebib. In fact, this is their second business venture in the cannabis industry.
Prior to Bullrider, Drake and Shebib had taken on a partnership with Canopy Growth to develop the More Life Growth cannabis brand. What seemed like a brilliant idea back when they first got together in November of 2019, had fallen off this past summer with no real explanation or much media coverage. However, based on Shebib’s personal relationship, 40 and Drake seem to be making more moves with the right mindset and philosophy.
