She has made a habit out of trolling her followers on social media and winding up her critics, yet people can’t help but take everything she says seriously. The rapper and singer is constantly criticized for everything from her appearance to the direction in which she is taking her music, but she never hesitates to clap back with a full range of motion.
Doja recently caused an uproar among her supporters when she referred to her last two records, Hot Pink (2019) and Planet Her (2021), as “cash grabs.” She even went on to refer to her fans as dumb, but her track record proves that she is messing around more often than not.
In her most recent Twitter pushback, Doja served her haters with a dose of a “be careful what you wish for” meme.
After a lengthy back-and-forth involving social media users taking jabs at Doja and her quote tweeting with comebacks, one person wrote the following: “find your way back to becoming the old doja we loved.” To that, the LA-based provocateur responded with an old picture of herself captioned “choose your words wisely.” Check out the post below:
This tongue-in-cheek post made it clear why Doja is reluctant to be her old self. For context, she has expressed her distaste for the music business and the industry’s tendency to dull creativity.
She tweeted the following last month: “i also agree with everyone who said the majority of my rap verses are mid and corny. I know they are. I wasnt trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I’m getting tired of hearing yall say that i can’t so I will.”
During an Instagram Live last month, she said the following: “I’m doing all this shit that I don’t fucking wanna do. I don’t wanna take fucking pictures. Like, yes, planning a photoshoot is very fun. Capturing a concept, capturing a visual idea, like something like that, I love fashion. I really do. I love to dress up. I love all that shit. Do I wanna do that shit because I have to? No! No I don’t! But I feel pressured to do shit like that. I don’t fucking wanna do that. I wanna be home. I wanna make music. I wanna play fucking video games.”
