Todd Helder, the 20-year-old Netherlands electronic producer and DJ connected with Respect My Region for yet another exclusive interview. Just about a year ago today, Todd connected with us while he was ramping up for the promising months that were ahead of him. Fast forward to today and now he has another great opportunity to reflect on how the last year has been.
With new music being delivered frequently and him playing more and more shows, he’s continuously been improving his craft. With a strong support system alongside him and having one of the worlds most known electronic artists by his side, Todd is exploring all that he is capable of at the speed that is right for him.

Hey there – since we last talked, and for someone who is just getting introduced to you – What have you been up to? Any new singles, EP’s, shows you would like to share?
Yoooo! I released a new single called ‘Trapped’ on STMPD RCRDS! It’s a melodic trap track with heavy hip hop influences. I also had an amazing summer, I played at festivals like Mysteryland, Dreambeach, Tomorrowland, EDMania, New Horizons, Ushuaïa and many more!

What has been the highlight of this year so far?
My highlight this year was doing two shows in two different countries in one day. Mysteryland in the Netherlands & Machac in Prague, which was an amazing experience!
What could we expect from you heading into the last quarter of the year?
You can expect a new fresh Todd Helder sound with some crazy melodic drops and I might drop my first big collab which I’m super stoked for!!
Where would you like to take things next year?
In the future, you can expect huge collabs, remixes and you can expect a different side of DJ Todd Helder.
What’s the number one thing Martin Garrix has taught you as a DJ so far?
Martin Garrix is working 24/7, as long as you keep going you will get better.
Would you consider expanding and trying new sounds of music in the future? If so, what type? If not, how come?
I’m working on a hardcore song with trance & chiptune vibes which I will release soon, I’m also doing hip hop with a crazy rapper and I might have a collab coming up with this weird guy called ‘HL:DR’ so keep an eye on my socials!! 😀
Who have been your musical inspirations as of late?
For the past month, I have been listening non-stop to Virtual Self and Skrillex! (Would love to work with both of these legends!)
Do you have a favorite city to play in? Or a place you love to play?
For now, my favorite is Prague, because the audience went crazy and the people are very kind! I would love to play at Omnia Club in Las Vegas and Ultra Miami.
When are we going to get you and Martin Garrix out in Seattle for a show?!
That would be so sick! Hopefully in the near future!
