Dirty Tribe is a West Side reggae/hip-hop band out of Tacoma, composed of Snax (lead singer), Shaman (DJ/MC), Bodi (Bass), Big C (guitar), and Tori (drums). They have been together for about 2 years now connecting on jam seshes where they would always try different things.
While they loved to experiment, they always seemed to go back to playing reggae. So they all came together and decided to just go for it and officially become a band.
The band name is derived from the thought that they are a tribe of mixed culture. Snax is Filipino, C is Mexican, Bodi is Cambodian, Shaman is Black, and Tori is Norwegian, together they created this “tribe” rooted in music that spreads the love everywhere they go. Mix that with the fact this group loves to just get grimey and filthy with it in their music and on stage, you have Dirty Tribe.
With a style like 311 but grittier, Dirty Tribe likes to call their sound West Side Reggae, a wonderful fusion of reggae, hip-hop, rock, and soul talking about real topics and emotions. They’re really looking to bring a new “vibration” to the music scene that people are searching for.
One of the best things about Dirty Tribe as a band is that they keep it real with the fans. Always coming out strong with the music, Dirty Tribe brings a ruckus that permeates through an entire venue. Manifesting the love, grime, culture, and passion that goes into their music and slingshoting it into the souls of their listener.
Dirty Tribe – “True Eyes”
Over the last 2-3 months Dirty Tribe has dropped 5 tracks with their latest release being “True Eyes.” This is song that has been in Snax’s back pocket since high school.
He originally wrote it for a rap group but decided to stick to singing so he never used it. Around the time he first started Dirty Tribe, he changed up some lyrics and added more to the song with Shaman joining the band, and the song evolving with more hip-hop and rap elements.
