Emerging rapper Derro is on the rise after his album ‘Streets Made For Me’ reached number 132 on the Apple Music Charts. Derro is from Griffin, Georgia and comes from a rough background and upbringing. He just got out of jail after being in there for four years. In jail he wrote his new album, one which talks about his challenging past, staying humble and authentic, and how far he has come since being locked up.
The album tells a story of the young rapper’s life. It is impactful for struggling youths who are going through similar situations. He gives hope to those who are in painful and unfortunate circumstances. He tells his audience that it can and will get better.
The Georgia rapper’s first single on the album titled “Any Beat” has seen much success. It has undoubtedly contributed to the hype and appreciation for his whole debut album. The single speaks about his past through heartfelt lyricism and also speaks about staying authentic and humble.
“If it wasn’t for the judge giving me a couple of years, don’t know where I’d be,” is one of the lyrics in the single. It truly shows Derro’s acknowledgment of how his time in jail nearly saved him. Jail gave him the tools and opportunities to get on top of the game and work on himself and his music. Now that he is out, he is committed to working on music and becoming a better person who can guide those who are or were in similar situations to him four years ago.
