Portland is a hub for artistic and sporting excellence. It may not seem like that on the surface, but Portland has a deep pool of talented artists, musicians, and athletes, and sometimes, they’re one and the same. Damian Lillard A.K.A Dame D.O.L.L.A is an All-Star point guard for the Portland Trailblazers and an incredibly talented rapper. And not just talented for an athlete, he’s talented period. He regularly links with respected names in Portland’s hip-hop community like Wynne and Vursatyl. This time Cool Nutz, and Drae Steves brought on D.O.L.L.A. for a brand new track “Tappin Out” from Cool’s latest album Father Of Max.
This track is a smooth trapped out banger that invokes classic romanticized scenes of street life and hustling day in and day out. This song is about the type of hustle that only other creatives, writers, artists, rappers, and entrepreneurs understand. Grinding art before and after your “nine to five” grind. Whether that’s showing up early to shoot free throws before practice like Dame D.O.L.L.A. does or typing out blogs on your phone during your lunch break; greatness only awaits those who are willing to sacrifice the time to get there.
“Tappin Out” is something to put on repeat and grind to while you focus on your work, chase your dreams, and get where you want to be.
