I’ve been smoking cannabis daily, or pretty close to daily, since 2011. I started with blunts and bongs and have since matured into a joint smoker, dab ripper, weed drink sipper, and edible-for-sleep taker. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined a decade ago that we would have so many cool cannabis devices available. After trying just about every device available under the sun over the last five years or so, I’m happy to finally share a list of RMR’s favorite four super cool, tech-centric, cannabis consumption devices.
I used to use a hookah with my friends in college so to me, it only makes sense to kick this list off with none other than the newest and coolest item to hit the California cannabis market, the OOKA electronic cannabis hookah.
OOKA
When you think of cannabis consumption devices, what even comes to mind? Did you imagine an electronic hookah that is meant for cannabis? Well, this device hits that right on the bullseye.
I have the black and silver OOKA and can confirm that someone who smokes great weed and dabs rosin every day, can in fact get high as fuxk off this device. It won’t smack you in the face like a blunt, joint, hash-hole, or even a bong rip, but I can promise you that your body will feel high.
The OOKA team has a collab with Seven9 and they launched a variety of cannabis-filled pods that are proprietary to this device. It is literally as simple as opening the box, busting open the box of pods, and the pod itself, setting the pod in the top chamber, pushing the power button to turn the OOKA on, and then holding that button down again until the top chamber has an amber light and ring turn on and start pulsating. I was super impressed with how easy and effective this device really was when it came down to me setting it up and using it with my friends.
My only issue is that I need exotic strains, OG strains, and better farm partners so that I can vape Wiz’s weed, or Cookies, or something from a small craft farmer like CAM, Fig Farms, or Doja Pak. OOKA can definitely be a platform for small farms or a big time partner with the larger brands. The potential for greatness is right there for this team.
Puffco Peak Pro
Puffco really makes it difficult to hate on their brand or their products. I for one, am a fan of their products, their marketing, the owner’s desire to be deep in the culture, and their commitment to pushing the community and culture forward. One of my best homies says that Puffco is literally the only brand that speaks to him as a black and LGBTQIA+ human and I think that speaks volumes as to who and what they stand for.
Community and culture are two things people and brands always mention when it comes to building their company, but most often they fail at when it comes to be active or involved in an effective or meaningful way. Puffco is killing it in the cannabis community and truly crushing it in terms of crafting the culture of their hash and/or dabbing community.
Okay now to the legitimacy behind their cannabis consumption devices and the technology.
Their latest 10 year anniversary edition Puffco featured significant upgrades in the form of a 3D ceramic heating chamber, improved temperature and session settings within the app, a sleeker design in my opinion, plus some really dope Puffco carrying bags that look like something straight out of a cannabis fashion show. They also released an even larger version of the chamber for those people trying to take dabs beyond what the majority of people are taking.
Puffco is living up to most people’s expectations however the potential for more great things is right their for them to take advantage of. I look forward to every single announcement at this point.
Auxo by CCell
If you ask most, if not all, of the general cannabis consumers out there, if they’ve ever heard of CCell, the overwhelming majority will say they’ve never heard of the brand or company. The reason behind that is CCell manufactures hardware, usually vapes, and people typically only talk about the cannabis farmers or extractors who made the oil inside the vape cartridge. Now though, over the last few years, CCell’s innovative design teams and engineers have crafted other consumer products that can enhance your dabbing experiences. One of these devices is the Auxo Cenote, a sturdy rig that allows users to dab at custom temperatures and utilize various colors of LED lights for outdoor use or night sessions.
I found this device to be super easy to use, enjoyable to rip, and exciting in terms of the experience. I’m a sucker for the lights and how it ultimately hits and looks at the end of the day.
Hitoki Laser Bong
Each of these cannabis consumption devices brings something super unique to the cannabis experience. The days of simply smoking, dabbing, or eating weed aren’t over, they’re just way better now thanks to innovation and ingenuity from groups like Puffco, OOKA, Auxo, and last but not least, Hitoki. I remember the first time I saw this laser bong pop up on my feed on Instagram and I thought to myself, holy fuxking $hit, there’s a FREAKING LASER BEAM on that bong! Wow!
Growing up I thought it was funny that Austin Powers and Dr. Evil had the classic scenes and quotes about sharks with laser beams. Now we live in a world where we legitimately have bongs with laser beams. The cool part about this particular laser is that it actually is the heating element in this entire consumption experience. The laser literally burns the weed that you end up smoking.
Although I’m definitely not a bong user in terms of daily smoking habits, when I do use a bong, the only option that makes sense to me now is the Hitoki laser bong, or their laser bubbler. As crazy as it sounds, the device is simple to use too. I definitely recommend this as a gift for someone or even for yourself if you really enjoy ripping bongs.
