On Friday night, at Branx in Portland, Illmaculate and Lawz Spoken, (who goes by MSTR CNTRL on this project), hosted the release party for their album CHRON: Legacy. As one can probably guess, the album is based off of the film “TRON: Legacy”, and is the sequel to OnlyOne and MSTR CNTRL’s album “CHRON”. “CHRON: Legacy”, written by illmaculate and OnlyOne, features artists Goldini Bagwell, IAME, Cassow and Epp. The album itself is extremely unique — mixing original rhymes with voice clips from the “TRON: Legacy” movie and beats made from samples of 80’s bands. Two tracks from the album, (“After You’re Gone” and “Mechanical Love”), are original compositions made without the use of any samples. The album includes 10 tracks, and stays interesting up until the very last one. This album is available for free download.
The line-up for Friday night’s show was packed with talent, with a rap battle between 9DM and Big K, and performances by Stewart Villian, Chase Moore of Sacramento, V. Dewayne, Quiz, illmaculate, and OnlyOne. A surprise performance was made by Epp. The DJs for this show were DJ Fatboy and DJ Spark, who each left the audience impressed.
