Chris Ianuzzi’s Ambient New Album “Planeteria” Distinguishes His Experimental Style

Well-known New York Symphonic Composer and Songwriter, Chris Ianuzzi, recently released a new 10-track album called Planeteria. Ianuzzi put out this album on June 15, 2020, though his Satellite Symphonics label imprint. A few weeks prior to the release of Planeteria Ianuzzi released the track “Hello” following a sporadic and masterful music video showcasing his indie/electronic sound.

Through fantastical beatles tracks, contemporary visuals, and highly experimental tracks, Chris Ianuzzi’s album will blow your mind from start to finish. Chris’ experimental sound and reborn song structures reflect that of artists like Aphex Twin and Ben Frost. Chris Ianuzzi released a 3-track EP “Olga in a Black Hole in March of 2020 which received critical acclaim far and wide. After this release, Ianuzzi collaborated with D. Carlton Bright and Max Rosenthal to create this music video for his track “Hello.” Additionally, Ianuzzi included these creatives on Planetaria.

Ianuzzi explains that he has a musical awakening at the dentist’s office. When Ianuzzi first heard the tone of a Moog synthesizer at a music store, he activated a childhood hallucination during a dental procedure. Rather than riding off this triggering sound, Ianuzzi used it as a catalyst for his experimental sound.

“Chris Ianuzzi makes the statement that he’s here to revel in a new future. Listen and enjoy.”

-Regen Magazine

Although Ianuzzi has a new, experimental sound, he has an extensive background in more classical music. He received formal music training at the American Society for University Composers where he played a piano using a chisel, rubber wedge. In addition, Ianuzzi was an electronic creative associate with the legendary Suzanne Ciani and her Electronic Music boutique for Sound Design and Scoring. Ianuzzi also worked with Vangelis, ex-Tangerine Dream member Peter Baumann, The Puppets, Skula and Freeze. While working with these artists, Ianuzzi developed unique songwriting skills and ambient sound.
