East Coast bred and current Portland resident Champange Tane, brings two visuals in one with his new dual video ‘1997 x Black Cloud.’ In 1997 Tane is rolling around Portland neighborhoods in Pedi-Cabs with his crew spitting knowledge on girls, drugs, and money. Although none of those three topics are astonishingly new (or even remotely new) to hip-hop music, Champange Tane’s sound is. Surronded by hipsters and bad chicks in mask, Tane is speaking on grimey issues over east coast beats which is a rare site to see for hip-hop. In ‘Black Cloud’ Champange Tane boast more of a all around dark image including some bondage and a butcher knife. Personally I think Tane has found a niche with this East Coast sound mixed with Portland creativity. Be on the look out for Champange Tane’s upcoming EP ‘They Fall Like Autumn’ coming sometime in the next few months.
