In 2019 Cashier was nominated for rap album of the year in the Seattle Times by Kube 93.3s’ Besa Gordon. Now back and better than ever in 2021, Cashier releases Horns & A Halo Pt. 2. Cashier articulates the spiritual warfare one battles while coming up from life in the streets, putting together a classic body of work.
Known for being a rapper that brings real substance and passion to his music, Horns & A Halo Pt. 2 is no exception. The album intro is an insightful take that contemplates those inner battles, asking, do you want to be at peace with the world? Or at peace with yourself? The first full track is “Purge Night” a gritty ballad of getting caught up in the street hustle and some of the results that can come of that life.
A Story To Tell
“Make It Home” is an emotional track about homies losing their lives due to gun/police violence and the feeling of relief from simply getting home. He taps in with Blockrepp Shad and Doughkain for this one. They tell a story of a young man evolving from life out in the streets to appreciating what he has at home and trying to stay out of the danger.
Seattle OG Papa Black Davinci hops in the studio with Cashier and Doughkain for “Closer To God,” one of those songs that make you sit down and think about the past, both good and bad. One of the longer tracks on Horns & A Halo Pt. 2 “Closer To God” is a good one to roll up and sit back with after a long day.
My personal favorite track off the album is “Cold World” with fire features from rising stars Jay Loud, King Leez and Blockrepp Shad. They rap about the hard facts of the world and how bad things happen to the best of people. Recognizing a hard truth and working to get past it, to be the best you always can be.
