For most of their lives, Baby Boomers were the largest consumer age group in the market. Despite being overpassed by millennials, Boomers still hold significant buying power in the cannabis market. Her belief is that their interest stems from a desire to treat ailments that are found to respond positively to cannabis. This is supported by data from Headset that shows Boomers purchase more tinctures and sublinguals than other product types.
For many consumers in the age ranges of 57-76, the high THC strains on the market today can produce an unpleasant effect. The cannabis that was consumed in the 70’s likely contained significantly less THC than strains of today. In fact, cannabis tested from seized marijuana in the U.S. Drug Enforcement evidence locker tested at 4% THC compared to an average of 12% THC in 2014.
