Cabby is a rapper coming from the East Village Projects a Denver historic neighborhood. His label name, EVG Entertainment, pays homage to his upbringing. The Denver native’s mother was sthe source of inspiration for his latest album, Forever 6-2-52. The project is set to drop on June 2, 2023, everywhere music is streamed and disturbed through EVG Entertainment.
A Mother’s Love
Linda Washington, Cabby’s mother, lived long enough to see him featured on BET and drop his debut single with Young Joc. “Seeing my mom’s first reaction to me being on tv was a priceless moment. She wore a big smile & was very proud; she no longer worried about her son being in the streets,” said the rapper. His mother was able to witness many of his achievements in his career.
Unfortunately, his mother passed in 2012, after a tumultuous battle with colon cancer. That is a memory that he will cherish forever. As a result, he drops a new project every year in her honor. As a matter of fact, this year, KDThisDatWave produced the entirety of Cabby’s five-song EP Forever 6-2-52.
Cabby “In My Section” Official Music Video
His project sounds big like the love for his mother. The album is rife with epic horns and breakdowns like on the songs from his previous project EVG 2, “Built Like Me,” and “In My Section.” The project is full of classic storytelling, emotion-driven instrumentals, and the personal growth Cabby finds in his daily operation. Songs’ like “God Givin; Hustle,” showcase the grinding mentality he exudes daily. While “Momma Always Told Me” gives him a chance to pass off wisdom that was handed down to him from his late mother. Cabby credits being authentic and consistent to gaining a strong fan-base, and he feels encouraged that fans will really feel this project.
“The song that means the most to me on this project is ‘Deeper’.” Cabby said the foremost song on the project, “has them heavy organs, it kind of remind me of being at church with my mom… it just flowed natural, the story telling man.”
Cabby’s vision is much bigger than just himself, as his three sons Wavy, Quetice and Himothy have stepped up to take on some of the family business. “Just seeing them take off from that, they doing they thing with it, allows me to jump into some real estate, exotic cars you know.”
