Word Around the Sound is… Bvmmer has released a brand-new album titled Holland. Equal parts of indie rock and whimsical pop come together to create a body of work that collectively reflects the different sounds that he has explored over the years. The album has a daydream-like quality to it that feels like you’re peering into Bvmmer’s head as he touches on his experiences with and feelings towards death, growth and love.
In a post on his Instagram, Bvmmer shared that the cover art for Holland “is a real mixed media piece of art that I made out of old magazine and book cuttings that was inspired by my grandma’s house and traditional Dutch gardens.”
You can hear the birds chirping throughout the album and can almost feel the grass beneath your feet and a light breeze blowing against your skin, particularly on tracks like “THE BIRDS AND THE BEES,” “BELIEVE” AND “RABBIT HOLES.” On the flipside, tracks like “DATURA” bring the sharp rocks to the garden party with an edgier overall vibe to his catchy melodic stylings. Overall, Bvmmer gives us a dynamic listening experience that taps into the vulnerable moments in life making for a relatable and highly replayable album.

TK Been Poppin & Nobi – “Fuck F Minor”
As I was working on this edition of Word Around the Sound, RMR co-owner Joey Brabo sent me this new single “Fuck F Minor” from TK Been Poppin and Nobi. He told me when it came up on his playlist, he thought it was a big-name label release and was surprised to see that it was some dope independent talent coming out of the Puget Sound area. On the track, TK and Nobi go back and forth firing off rapid bars one after another over a super saucy, pungent beat, making for a high-energy, high-quality release.
Swavy – “Luggage”
Say hello to Swavy, a brand-new band filled with some of the funkiest cats this side of the Cascades. Their debut single, “Luggage,” has such an infectious groove with a warm tone that is sure to make any timid two-stepper bust out their flyest dance moves. Now, it’s time to put this song on and get loose as they gear up for their upcoming debut performance!
Friday, May 24: Swavy’s debut performance will be at the High Dive opening up for Lovely Colours as they celebrate the release of their own debut album. Waltzerr will join them on the lineup with doors opening at 8pm for those 21 and up. Tickets are on sale now for $15.
Oblé Reed & ARDN – “Salad”
It’s a good thing we’re talking “Salad” in this latest release from Oblé Reed because he ATE every single bar on this track. He threw ARDN into the mix to split the greens and he made it clear that he eats healthy too, because he left nothing on his plate either. Throughout the track, they make complex rhyme schemes seem effortless, which showcases how immensely talented both of these artists are in less than three minutes.
Gray Hurley – Rose Tinted
Gray Hurley recently released his debut self-produced EP titled Rose Tinted. The three-track project combines jazzy saxophone riffs with chilled out melodic grooves that seamlessly blend from one track to the next. Overall, the vibe lends itself to a sunny dance party, making this EP an easy Rose Tinted addition to your summer playlist.
B3lina & Noah Coinflip – $10
B3lina has one of those voices that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, chills run down my spine, and I can feel the chemicals in my brain start to flow uncontrollably. Not only does her vocal tone soothe like a weighted comforter, but technically she’s able to hit notes and run with them in ways that tickle the eardrums in an incredibly satisfying way. She just dropped a new song titled “$10” that features production from Noah Coinflip that helps amplify all these qualities in her voice while still being able to stand out in its own right.
Perry Porter – “Layover Love”
Perry Porter released his latest single “Layover Love,” that leads the way towards his next album Fear of Loving Las Vegas which is set to release on May 28. Perry nestles delicately into the pocket of the beat like he would nestle into the crevice of a woman’s curve. He dribbles his lyrics along the track at the perfect pace to rock the hips and hit a groove real quick.
Onry Ozzborn – “All or None”
The latest single from Onry Ozzborn, “All or None,” feels like he stepped up to the battle rap tee to drive every rapper off the course. Every bar hits just as hard as the last as he takes a unique approach to his verses by collectively addressing and discrediting other rappers with repetitive “all of you” and “none of you” bars that really reinforce the point that a majority of the industry is exhausting to listen to.
Milc & Andy Savoie – “Rose Parade”
Milc and Andy Savoie are back at it again with their latest single “Rose Parade.” As of late, Milc has been getting a little more introspective with his rhymes and telling stories about his life and surroundings rather than going heavy with the flagrant bars. On this track, Milc doesn’t sell you a dream, he sells you a wish- a wish that other rappers would hone their craft in the way that Milc has.
