Formally known as Warm Gun, the man behind the trigger has rebranded himself under his own name, Brian Chinn. His new track, “Run It Up,” is the first of many singles to come. It features the debut appearance of Munnycatt, another New York transplant by way of Seattle.
In a recent Instagram post, Brian spoke on the low-key simplicity that his new single radiates. “Sometimes our favorite projects take the least time to make. For “Run It Up,” the beat was 95% made in an afternoon and most of the vocals are from the first and only recordings. There are probably parts I could’ve re-sung or re-written to be ‘better’. But, there was something raw about the original that I didn’t want to lose.”
I’d have to agree with him on that, I love the raw aspect of this song. It feels fresh like a summer day with your friends, where you just hang out and create some shit for the fun of it. Creating music simply for the sake of making art is still so inherently beautiful and I think more artists need to keep that in mind.
This song has reinforced for me just how distinct a sound Brian has developed over the years. He’s constantly developing and refining his craft but he has definitely established a vibe for himself that stands out from the rest.
