Bocha’s ‘I Like You’ EP Is A Lovely Ode To Spring Flings and Summer Love

Portland’s own, Bocha, is back with a brand new project — the I Like You EP takes on Bocha’s thoughts on romance, courtship, one-night-stands, and that indescribably wonderful feeling of falling in love during the dog days of summer. The EP was produced primarily by Portland staple sxlxmxn (pronounced Solomon) while Neill Von Tally handled “Brown Skin” and Tawrence did “Gotdamnit.”

He dropped his new EP off the heels of a new double music video “Freak//Sweeter The Juice.” These two song combine into a visual epic about the creative dreams running through Bocha’s mind. Sasquatches, graffiti, fresh fits, and beautiful women are central themes running through the video and left me with a beautiful “life is but a dream” feeling.

Bocha makes great rap music in general, but always has a stoner bounce too it. The beats are wet and loose, the music crept from ears down my neck, the kind of music that just makes you vibe out — but if you pay attention, you’re bound to learn something about the rapper Bocha, the man William Hayes, and Portland’s culture. All six tracks blend together into one beautifully cohesive piece of music that deserves that repeat button click.

Bocha has always represented Portland and put the city’s rap scene on a pedestal. He’s the quintessential rapper’s rapper and has been touted by other talented artists like Mic Capes and Rasheed Jamal.
