Bliss: Transcendence was an incredible show that exceeded every expectation. The biggest surprises though, those happened after the show was over.
The Underground, a club in Pioneer Square, hosted an afterparty, announcing they would have a special guest DJ perform. Fans entered the club knowing that Nifra would play a special set, but unbeknownst to anyone, a second special guest DJ came to perform.
“I’m just standing there at the after party and I look to my left and boom Markus Schulz is dancing shoulder to shoulder with me. Holy fuck.” – Sam Arnold
The owner of The Underground, Marc Pospisl, was just as surprised.
“We had no prior knowledge Markus would come by. I reached out to Nifra’s manager and offered her the opportunity to play the after hours. Since she was 1st we knew there would only be a fraction of the total attendees in the show when she played. So this would give her an opportunity to play for some more people while here.
When she agreed to be a special surprise, we joked with the promo team, ‘wouldn’t it be amazing if Markus came and they did a b2b?’ Who knew it would work out like this. Since she works with Markus so frequently, she told him she would be playing the after hours that got him to come over.
I was at the door trying to help get people in as fast as we could when a security guy came up and said Markus Schulz is here and would like to hang out. I looked out on the street and saw him getting his bag out of the car and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. So we brought him back to the VIP room and got him set up. Watching people’s jaws drop as I walked him through the club was priceless!
Nifra played for an hour and when she let me know she was on her last track, I let Markus know (who was in the crowd dancing with everyone at the time) and he said sure let’s do it.
He played for just over an hour and after his set said he used this to practice his Dakota set for Dreamstate San Francisco later this month. It was something he was wanting to do but he was waiting for the right opportunity, and lucky for us, this was that right opportunity.”
I will never forgive myself for missing this afterparty because if anything is once in a lifetime, it was what went down at The Underground after Bliss!
