BIG Jone$ is one of my favorite artists from the region. Period. Today we get to dive into his latest offering with Superb.
Listeners can expect hard beats with high energy, yet an easy listening cadence. Actual bars integrated over slaps. Jone$ gives you something perfect for the car, gym, and daily motivation.
His last album Winners Can’t Lose charted in the top 20 on iTunes, and Superb landed at #15 as soon as it dropped. If two top 20 drops are not a testament to holding a following and infiltrating the streets, I don’t know what it is.
Jone$, known for the slap, gets emotional on records like “Timing” and “Do It For.” Still providing that slap throughout Superb on joints like “Back,” “Like Busta,” and “Booming.” Keeping features light, there are a few scattered across the track list including local standouts like Jarv Dee and Mafi D.

Historically, Seattle has sometimes fallen into a sound or pocket and Jone$ doesn’t fall into that category whatsoever. Now he’s made it known he can rock a “boom-bap beat” on the Seattle Sessions “MVP Vibes” record, but Jone$’ delivery and cadence is incredibly original for the Upper Left. I was first put onto the Seattle area rapper from my past podcast co-hosts on the Lunch Table. Feez and Caj spoke highly of Jone$’ sound and it didn’t take much to persuade me. Since those early days, he’s not only grown bigger but also built a larger following. It’s clear from Superb the young artists is only getting better.
