BIG Jone$ is ending 2022 on a high note. The Seattle rapper grabs up Mafi D, who hasn’t stopped working this year, for his latest visual “Busy.”
BIG Jone$ had a quieter year after releasing his well-received Superb album. On “Busy,” which was one of my favorite songs off Superb, Jone$ makes it known whether the music is coming out or not, the man is busy! The Ghxstboi shot and directed visual finds the Seattle artists in a vividly appealing fall setting. Visually, the colors and movements feel great with the guitars in the track. It’s both stagnant and laid back but transitions keep it moving when needed—this a solid concept that came together through and through.
“Busy” draws on a melodic emo-rock vibe mixed in with heavy trap drums. This sound may be pretty “current’ but it’s so Seattle in my opinion. We got the birthplace of grunge so I’m all the way here to see rap and grunge blend together in the city. Jone$’ even-keeled delivery goes perfectly on the verse and sing-song hook. Mafi D comes in with a greatly matched feature that showcases multiple flows and cadences, the same versatility we saw on his recent 1522 album.
