Biddadat is a trio of funk-loving musicians who have rays of golden sunshine beaming from their instruments. It’s almost impossible to be angry while listening to these guys jam out. They blessed the second annual Seattle World Tour in January, kicking off the tour with an electrifying set at Nectar Lounge. Now, as they prepare to take the stage at Capitol Hill Block Party, they’ve released a brand new EP called The Parallel.
Opening up with “Outrageous” it feels as if you’re sprinting towards an unknown destination. It almost sounds like the backdrop for an 80s movie montage but you only have a vague idea of what you’re working towards. The whole project has this retro-vintage feel to it captured flawlessly in the album art.
The second track, “Bang Me”, has this gritty quirkiness to it with vocals very reminiscent of Beck in his prime. The lighthearted nature of this song is reinforced with humorous and relatable lyrics. “Given the chance, I would ruin romance // I would do anything, just to get in your pants”
An uplifting and hopeful jam, the title track, “The Parallel”, radiates this positive energy which shines a light on self-care. “You gotta be strong, sing a song, and overcome…” Life is all about acknowledging the mistakes you have made and persevering through it to be the best you that you can possibly be.
Biddadat ends their EP off strong with the song, “Younger Days”. You can groove to this slinky bass line with the guys at Barboza on Wednesday, July 3rd. They’re bringing out Eclectrick and recent Sound Off winners, i///u.
