California brought the heat and the exotic genetics to the 2019 West Coast Weed Tour. All of the cannabis that we smoked throughout the tour was absolutely fire and these are the brands and strains that left a lasting impression on us.
2019 West Coast Weed Tour Awards
Connected – Gelonade
Zesty orange flavors filled my mouth after every bong rip. The terpenes were evident through the entire smoking experience, which is one of the best indicators of well-grown cannabis. From the aromas stuck on your fingers to the terps bouncing off your lips, you can taste and smell Gelonade on its entire journey from the jar into your lungs.
Cookies – White Runtz
The high was a happy cerebral surge that not only helped me focus but gave me warm bursts of energy. I could see this strain being a creative’s dream strain to smoke while at work. The flavors and effects are just as loud as the personalities that rep the brand with such loyalty.
Alien Labs – Baklava
From the sticky dull green flowers to the maple and mint aromas, this strain makes you feel like you’re starring in your own personal episode of ‘Fuck That’s Delicious.’ Each bowl I burned through my bong was a sensual treat of sweet aromas like a bakery on Friday morning.
Top Shelf Cultivation – Whoa Si Whoa
I left the jar open on my table while the aroma filled my living room. It smelled just like Christmas, with a brightly lit pine tree resting festively in the corner. Each nug in the jar felt soft and squishy like a pillow. A dough flavor stood out with a strong piney aroma while I smoked. Immediately my eyelids felt heavy, my fingers started to slow down on my keyboard, and the munchies kicked in hard.
SKöRD – Chocolatina
Cracking open a nug, you get this immensely cheesy, nutty, and musky whiff that tells me the Mint Chocolate Chip is lending a solid amount to the terps. If I had to take a stab at the three dominant terpenes in this strain I’d have to guess caryophyllene, myrcene, and pinene.
Urban Canna – Gelato Cake
Smooth earthy flavors with hints of sweetness come through the smoke nicely. It reads 31 percent THC and it hits like it too. Once small bowl sent a quivery body high down my shoulders and arms. I suggest starting with a small slice of the Gelato Cake strain to make sure you don’t go too deep.
Gas House – Tear Gas
The relaxing and motivational high became apparent quickly. My mood was elevated from the jump and sitting down to work for the day feeling breezy. This is one of those strains that can be used to relax and get work done. It’s a complex high and a classic terpene profile.
Mad Mark Farms – Mad Gelato
A spacey high carried me through an episode of the Mandalorian, but I spent most of the time fixated on the fish tank next to my TV. The peppery citrus flavor of the cannabis was the most potent of the Gelato’s that I’ve recently had the opportunity to smoke.
Synergy Cannabis – Golden State Banana
The flowers are small and rocky. Each bud has a unique lumpy shape and is sticky to the touch. Sour tropical fruity notes permeate your nostrils, with the sour terps following through the most while smoking. After smoking a few bowls the fruity flavors became more apparent.
Cookies – Gary Patyon
This strain came to be through the collaborative effort of Powerzzzup and Cookies and is a cross between The Y and Snowman. Its namesake comes from number 20. During the phenohunt, it was number 20 that was the number one overall draft pick in the phenotype draft. Gary Payton wore number 20, the strain practically named itself .
Stay tuned for the notable strains from each state for the 2019 West Coast Weed Tour.
