Best of Northwest Hip-hop Playlist

I have seen a ton of the usual flack to the people at Juice Radio for their annual Freshest In The Northwest list. Although their list is slightly recycled, they did introduce more Portland artists than previous years! This is not our version of their list, I just simply wanted to make a ‘Best of Northwest’ hip-hop playlist. Some are new, some are old, some boom-bap, and some are bangers.

When my friends from Pittsburgh were in the area this past fall they asked ‘who is hot out here’ and wanted to hear some local music. This list is designed to give to any outsider and let them know we got more rappers than just Macklemore out here!

If anything this is a direct response to Complex’s weak Seattle Ones to watch list, and subsequently Seattle Weekly’s weak list that they made in response to Complex’s…weak list.

Best of Northwest Hip-hop Playlist

Personal favorites:
– Porter Ray – Teenagers (Seattle)
– UGLYFRANK – Bossa (Tacoma)
– The Pyhsics – Sleeping Alone (Seattle)
– Mikey Vegaz – Back To Ballin’ (Portland)

A lot of the artists on the playlist have dope tracks that are actually really good. I went with the ones that I was digging the most at the moment and that I could find on Soundcloud (For example Cool Nutz has a whole project of slaps here).
