Dreamville starter Bas has a fresh album on the way, with its first single scheduled to drop this weekend. A crossover with label boss J. Cole, “Passport Bros,” will hit the public domain on Friday.
Over the weekend, Bas revealed that he has yet another song with Cole. This will add to their flawless track record that comprises hits such as “Tribe,” “The Jackie,” “Night Job,” “Lit” and “h u n g e r . o n . h i l l s i d e,” among several others.
The tweet by Bas read, “We Only Talk About Real Shit When We’re Fucked Up,” followed by “album coming soon.” As of now, it is unclear if this is the name of the upcoming record or just a phrase to promote the new joint with Cole.
Bas Discusses How J. Cole Has Influenced His Artistry
During a 2021 conversation with HipHopDX, Bas went into detail about how J. Cole has helped and influenced his artistry through the years.
“Cole makes me want to work harder,” Bas said. “That’s for sure. You know? Just how dedicated he still remains to his craft, as someone who’s achieved what most of us want and aspire to. You know, levels we all aspire to get to. He’s reached it in this field.”
He added: “I got to work with him on The Off-Season and just seeing his work ethic and his commitment to working on his craft every day. I’m like, ‘Man, it’ll definitely make you feel like you’ve been slacking.’”
Bas’s last full-length album came nearly five years ago, though the 36-year-old MC has released multiple singes and he has also collaborated with a range of artist. Likewise, Cole hasn’t dropped an LP since 2021’s The Off-Season, but he continues to make guest appearances on record as well as at shows by other artists.
In 2022, Bas and Cole both worked on D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape with fellow Dreamville artists.
