STL’s 30 Deep Grimeyy and Houston rockstar Maxo Kream have come together once again. A follow-up from their previous collaboration, “Bando” is a surprisingly emotional banger from Grimeyy and Maxo. Similar to “Roaches” from Maxo or “Emotional” from Grimeyy, this track rides rhythm and honesty perfectly, resulting in a song as deep as it is bumping. Easy to cry to while drunk, or speed by while thinking about all those people that aren’t here anymore.
Grimeyy keeps all of his tracks energetic, so the bars start as soon as the beat drops. In between singing and spitting, he opens up one a touching chorus.
“When your homie got hit up I heard you ran on em/ All that shit you talk you better stand on/ If you a real boss then put your mans on/ Long live streets RIP Bando.”
-30 Deep Grimeyy on “Bando”
After that, his verse comes in mellow, confident. Slow enough that it has the seriousness of someone talking about the damage that street life brings in with it. The result is a melodic, meditative song that opens up feelings of remorse and struggle, but beauty as well.
As opposed to the Maxo who opened up “Handicap Crippin” with “We don’t shoot back cuz we shoot first,” his feature on “Bando” is much more subdued.
“They say I’m acting ghetto, I’m from the gutter, it’s a part of me/ they killed my blood brother on that day and took a part of me/ phone call to my mother had to tell her someone killed my brother was the hardest thing/ up at night could hardly sleep.”
-Maxo Kream on “Bando”
His verse is one of the most vulnerable moments in rap in a while from the category of cold emcees. If you looking for a summer banger to wallow with, this is undoubtedly it.
