Leave it to August Alsina to further capitalize on a moment that has come and gone. The R&B crooner links up with Rick Ross to debut a music video for the previously released single “Entanglements.” The song, inspired by the public affair between Jada Pinkett Smith and August Alsina, previously set the Internet on fire. The single, produced by OG Parker, has racked up over 10 million streams across platforms.
Between fire and contrasting sillouhettes, the video’s dark tone is apparent from the start. The clip features stunning dancers performing aerial, twerking, and pole dancing tricks. August Alsina and Rick Ross perform in front of a classic car while sipping champagne. Throughout the music video, August and his leading lady share intimate moments – seemingly reminiscent of his encounters with Jada Pinkett Smith.
When speaking to Vulture recently August expressed his opinion on the usage of the word: “I don’t know why that word is such an issue. I would agree [with Jada]. If you look up the definition of ‘entanglement,’ it is a complex and difficult relationship. It was exactly that. I think it’s just the language that probably stuck out to people. But I definitely have to agree with it being an entanglement. It definitely was something complicated, a complicated dynamic.”
“Entanglements” appears on the latest project from August Alsina, The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy.
