ATEE is a rapper whose roots are based in the PNW. Born in Kirkland, Washington, but also spending most of his life in Michigan, his upbringing was tumultuous coming from a broken home and facing a lot of bullying.
Finding himself in and out of jail, being betrayed by the peers around him, and losing jobs, life often dealt rough times for ATEE. He landed a steady job at Chilis until one day his father called him to say he had a stroke.
ATEE hadn’t seen his father in five years and he wanted him to fly out to Seattle, fearing he was on his death bed. His father ended up not dying and then presented him with an opportunity, move out of Detroit and start over in Seattle. ATEE took that opportunity and cut out all the toxic/unsupportive people from his life. But, the struggles didn’t stop there.
Coming Back To The PNW
From the time he’s moved back to Seattle to now, ATEE has lost over thirty 9 to 5 jobs. Realizing he wasn’t meant to work a “normal” job the rest of his life he began to fully dive into music.
A rapper known amongst his fans for being authentic about his real life and struggles, ATEE took music more seriously once the pandemic hit. Going from writing poems at 11 years old, to transforming them into lyrical stories.
His latest release “Glitch” is a smooth cut that switches it up on us at around the 3 minute mark. Showing his talents as both a rapper and a vocalist, ATEE gives us two unique flows. My favorite part comes after the switch up with the late night drive vibe. The aesthetic of the video matches perfectly too helping convey the songs message.
Making the most of his opportunities now, ATEE is a great of example that it is never too late to quit. ATEE has what it takes to become a hit in the Seattle music scene. Check out his latest release “Glitch” and tell us what you think in the comments!
