¡Feliz Año Nuevo mi gente! More artistas are headed your way with our biweekly series Sonido Global. Dynamic launches spanning from reggaeton to electronic cuts await you in this ever-evolving soundscape. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or first time listener, we welcome you to appreciate everything the Latin/Hispanic world has to offer.
Ñengo Flow & Wisin y Yandel “Puesta Pal’ Perreo”
The ideal dance party song, “Puesta Pal’ Perreo” has that classic upbeat sound you look for in reggaeton that makes it so tempting to start moving. The music video shows several people losing control of their own bodies and getting their groove on. On top of that, the theme of the song as a whole is all about just letting loose and letting go.
Nicky Jam, YOVNGCHIMI, and Angel Dior “Las Gatas (Dembow)”
Another club hit in its own right, “Las Gatas (Dembow)” still also comes with a more loungey vibe. The dembow beat is a timeless addition that makes the song extra fun and sets it apart from the rest of the reggaeton jams on this week’s list of artistas. It could be just the right kind of anthem for when you’re out and in search for just the right kind of women.
Jambene “La Historia De Cuando Caí”
This track is contemporary with a bit of salsa-like cadence that you can easily dance the pattern with. Jambene’s makes the storytelling perfectly smooth with how slow, light, and gently polished his vocals are. I am always a big fan of artistas mixing the best of retro and modern moods into their work, and this fusion is absolutely infectious.
Paty Cantú “Bancarrota – Soundtrack Cindy La Regia: La Serie”
This is a sassy pop bop by Paty Cantú for Netflix’s brand new Mexican coming-of-age story, Cindy La Regia. “Bancarrota” is so fitting for the series as it is about financial hard times, and I love how that kind of message is so relatable for our generation. These days, a good series isn’t complete without a catchy theme song, and the whistling throughout this one helps do the job because I’ve already been whistling that exact melody all day.
Jamby El Favo “Si No Te Veo”
Jamby El Favo is a multifaceted Latin hip-hop maestro as he continues to come out with waves of dope sounds through his own music label. A song about a woman’s irresistible charms, “Si No Te Veo” is slow yet provocative. Essentially, when you’ve got that person that’s hard to resist, you can’t wait another second to be with them.
Jey F & Oviña “Bellakita”
Very devious sounding, Jey F & Oviña fire off on their bars with lightning quick delivery about just how gorgeous a baddie can be. A baddie is all about being bold, sexy, and sure of herself. For any out there that are wanting a boost to their inner confidence and a reminder that they’re bad af, give this recording a listen.
Peso Pluma, Junior H, & Oscar Maydon “Rompe La Dompe”
With drop after drop, Peso Pluma stays a name that is heard around the world. His collaboration with Junior H & Oscar Maydon is just another banger for the books in the tumbados genre. Produced by El Chachito, he had been teasing this drop since September and only dropping hints of who was all involved in the collab. Released just last week, it’s already gotten mad attention from countless fans.
vf7 “SHIRAKAWA-GO”
Kicking off with junglist-style beats, vf7 also brings in some heat by dropping quick spoken word verses mixed with dreamy harmonies. The tune wraps up with some heavy bass, making this a very eclectic sounding mix all around. As the cover art suggests, this would be a great addition for a lax beach/pool day playlist for when the weather starts warming back up.
Mola Mola “Etapas”
These two brothers perform a sweet ballad on their latest about when you really miss something or someone. The sounds are that of trance like music with a bit of acoustic instrumentals. This could easily be the soundtrack to look back and reflect on the things we’re reminiscing about from 2023. Whether you wanna smile and/or cry about it, “Etapas” has the versatility for either occasion as you look back on the memories.
Maria Becerra “ACOUSTIC SESSION”
To wrap up this week’s artistas on Sonido Global, we’re bringing you something to wind down with. Maria Becerra just dropped an acoustic EP for “CUANDO HACEMOS EL AMOR,” “AUTOMATICO,” “INSPIRADORA,” “PERREO FURIOSO,” and “CORAZÓN VACÍO.” She just posted an intimate video of her performing every song from the whole EP all the way through. If you enjoyed this pop princess’ performance on NYE, indulge in these stripped down hits that are just as great.
¡Fin! That’s it for our biweekly update of Sonido Global’s artistas. All these selections and more will be on Respect My Regions designated Spotify playlist for all things spicy in the world of Latin/Hispanic music. Like what you see? Come back in two weeks for our Sonido Global update!
