Art Basel Miami 2023 was a dazzling convergence of creativity, culture, and innovation, and Respect My Region was there to witness and cover a variety of the local events firsthand. The journey took RMR’s team to numerous cities and events, with each step of the way showcasing the cities vibrant art, music, fashion, and tech communities.
Supernova x Nolcha Shows Web3 Edition, Terp Basel, Dab Day 2023, Essential w/ Miguel Migs, Base House Opening Happy Hour by Coinbase, and Hive’s Culinary & Cocktail Village were the main events that we attended. Each one was truly an adventure of artistic expression, immersive experiences, delicious food, and cutting-edge collaborations.
Art Basel 2023 will go down in history as the one that brought cannabis and psilocybin into the mix of music, fashion, and technology.
Supernova x Nolcha Shows Web3 Edition Kicking off our adventure was the mind-bending collaboration between Supernova and Nolcha Shows in their groundbreaking Web3 Edition at the SLS Hotel in South Beach. From immersive digital art to futuristic fashion, this event was a glimpse into the innovative fusion of technology and art. Diving into the evolution of digital artistry and how it’s shaping the future of creative expression, the experience was nothing short of magical. Some of our favorite artists from the evening include J.O. Jerusalem and Vasil Tuchko of It Remains. J.O Jersulaem had a space just near the pool at the SLS Hotel and had numerous paintings exhibited, each one showcasing his exquisite skillset and unique artistic expression.
Terp Basel 2023: Terp Basel was a cannabis-infused extravaganza, celebrating the intersection of art and cannabis culture for Florida and beyond. Featuring more than 30 brands including Freedom Grow, Sherbinskis, Sluggers Hit, Dee Thai, Bodega Boyz, Zatix, Hashonista, and Fidels, this event not only built up the local community, it provided a platform for people to connect, exchange, and create solid relationships. It was truly incredible how Terp Basel provided access to international cannabis culture along with the Florida weed community.
Respect My Region was blessed to be able to attend and experience the Skate Bird venue filled with hemp plants and glass blowers. We interviewed three former cannabis prisoners at the Freedom Grow booth and will also be publishing those on our Youtube over the coming days. The experience at this 4-day event was magical. S/o that spicy honey infused pizza that the Yeti’s bar had too though.
Dab Day 2023: The 2023 Dab Day event was a testament to the artistry and passion behind cannabis concentrates. Although not exclusive to just dabs, the event can only be described as an amazing experience. Hosted at a local venue called Fun Dimension, the space was arguably the dopest venue I had been to in some time. The Dab Day team filled out a beautiful venue with well-branded cannabis companies, food, snacks, local vendors, AND we were able to pop inside an arcade and play free games for hours.
In terms of living up to the name “Fun Dimension” or “Dab Day” I’d say both the venue and the Dab Day team knocked it out the park. There was plenty of dabs, specifially live resin and rosin available, plus the laser tag space legit took us to a new fun dimension. The event featured Florida’s NORML group plus the Delicioso fam next to each other seshing it up and spreading awareness for each other. There were more than 20 vendors throughout the space, each one sharing great vibes and impressive products.
Essential w/ Miguel Migs: The rhythm of Art Basel took a melodic turn with Essential featuring Miguel Migs, another Art Basel 2023 event that seamlessly blended art and music. The venue’s soulful vibes and captivating beats filled the air of Miami, capturing the essence of how music intertwines with the vibrant Miami art scene. After hanging out at cannabis events without much music variety, this event was a breath of fresh air.
Base House Opening Happy Hour by Coinbase: This happy hour event showcased the fusion of art and cryptocurrency, exploring how blockchain technology is influencing the art world. The event highlighted the innovative spirit driving the intersection of finance, art, and technology.
Hive’s Culinary & Cocktail Village in Wynwood: Entering the Hive Culinary & Cocktail Village in Wynwood was like stepping into an electrifying world where culinary delights merged seamlessly with pulsating beats and vibrant art. The fusion of diverse experiences within this immersive space created an incredible atmosphere that was nothing short of captivating.
The ambiance was set alight by the eclectic tunes spun by DJs, seamlessly blending reggaeton and hip-hop, infusing the air with an infectious rhythm that had everyone moving. Amidst the beats, the village was a canvas for creativity, adorned with numerous art installations that sparked conversation and admiration. Live painting sessions added an element of dynamism, allowing visitors to witness the birth of artistic masterpieces in real-time.
The culinary journey was equally enthralling. Food trucks and pop-up stands tantalized taste buds with an assortment of delectable treats from across the globe. From savory bites to sweet indulgences, the options were as diverse as the crowd that gathered to savor them. The aromas wafting through the air were an irresistible invitation to explore the gastronomic wonders on offer. In the adult play area, the oversized Jenga set and bsketball pong brought out the competitive spirit.
The Hive Culinary & Cocktail Village in Wynwood was not just an event but a symphony of sights, sounds, and flavors. It was a melting pot of culture and entertainment, where the convergence of music, art, food, and playful activities transformed a regular evening into an extraordinary party-filled adventure. This vibrant gathering left an indelible mark, a testament to the beauty of diverse experiences coming together in perfect harmony.
Art Basel Miami 2023 was not merely an event; it was an immersive journey through the evolving landscapes of art, culture, and technology. From exploring the intersection of technology and art to celebrating the infusion of cannabis culture and music, Respect My Region’s experience at Art Basel Miami was nothing short of life changing.
