Word Around the Sound is that Archie has released a new album titled When Will It End? She’s had quite the past year, hitting the Main Stage at Capitol Hill Block Party, as well as going on tour with Alaska Thunderfuck, and this year getting booked for Fisherman’s Village Festival in May.
In an Instagram post, Archie reflected on making this project, “If I think about myself as an artist and the parts that are most important to me, it’s the writing. I could no more stop writing songs than I could stop breathing. They are how I process emotions, how I express the deepest essence of myself and how I come to better understand myself and my context in this world. And I’m really proud of this album.”
She continued explaining, “I got to reflect on many facets of myself and where I’m at in life. Processing how silly it was to stay in shitty relationships cuz I kinda liked the drama, my fear of not doing enough before I die, the struggle of letting go, the joy of finding power within yourself, just letting yourself go with the fl0w…so many pieces of me are in this album it’s always scary to share but I hope it touches someone out there like it touched me to make it.”

These powerful pop anthems bring together everything Archie has worked on throughout her life. Artistically, she is showing us some of her most refined work to date. To be fair, I feel as if some of her earlier songs are still top tier though. It’s evident, however, that this project exudes a more mature, confident Archie.
Personally, she sings about navigating difficult situations and the feelings that come with those events in life and the strength it takes to continuously pull yourself up. I think that vulnerability is also a testament to the atmosphere that P. Kruise creates in his studio. Archie isn’t the first artist I’ve seen or heard to give thanks to Kruise for giving them, as Archie puts it, “the space and grace to be vulnerable.” I love seeing these connections come together and allowing artists to flourish as their ultimate selves, because ideally isn’t that what we all want from life?

Perry Porter & Baloogz “Ecstacy” Music Video
Perry Porter and Baloogz just released their latest track together tiled “Ecstacy” with a music video to match. This is the second single the duo has released off of their upcoming album Chariot. One thing about Perry’s videos is that they will always, always, always, be artistic as fuck with a light-hearted sense of humor. In the video for “Ecstacy,” there is a lot of smoking, painting, and a tiger mauling Mr. Bobby Ro$$ himself.
Bocha DIY Album
There’s a lot of talent in Portland, OR and Bocha is one of those artists. I’ve been following his career now for a few years and I’ve never been disappointed with anything he’s released. His latest project, DIY, is no different. Like a majority of his projects, Bocha focuses on the important things in life, whether it be making sure to have fun or interpersonal relationships on the deepest of levels, same vibes, different rhymes. This is a spark one up and really listen to it type album.
“Rebuild” with Grynch, Greg Cypher, RA Scion, Gifted Youngstaz
I know at this point the mainstream media is gushing over the idea of transcending genres, but ain’t nothing better than some solid boom bap hip-hop. Grynch, Greg Cypher, RA Scion, and Gifted Youngstaz came together to rebuild the image of what hip-hop was founded on. As we celebrate 50 years of the culture, it’s only right to acknowledge and pay respects to the history of the genre- and these guys did that with their track “Rebuild.”
10 Thousand Rats “Premonition”
I want to give a huge shoutout to Andy Savoie’s production because he truly never misses no matter who he’s working with. As of the past couple of weeks, he’s released two joints in particular that I’m super excited about. “Savoie beats slap and Desean punchlines, 10 Thousand Rats fucking up your lunch line.” One of those releases is the song “Premonition” with Jesse Desean. This is the first single off their upcoming project 10 Thousand Rats and I’m stoked to see what’s to come.
Greg Cypher & Andy Savoie “Morning Sunn”
The second song I want to highlight that features Savoie on production is the track “Morning Sunn” with Greg Cypher. This is a single off their upcoming collab album Impressions Under Pressure, which is set to release on February 24. Like a warm sunny glow beaming down on me, this track is incredibly comforting to me.
