Alexander Lewis is adamant about no longer being pigeon-holed by his success in the EDM world. And that determination is what motivated him to release his new Hip Hop passion project Blue.
The 10-track effort casts expansive nets of Jazz infused R&B and soulful boom-bap Hip Hop. Each emotion sounds-off in a quaint, concise, and thoughtful collaborations. The project features executive production, composition, and improvised trombone work from the California native. Headline tracks include Lewis’ vocal debut on the album title track and “Hear Me Out” featuring Billie Eilish girl crush Kiah Victoria.
Blue is apart of an album series built on exploration. Each project deep dives into the relationship of color and sound to capture the essence of feeling. As he taps up-and-coming talents in the industry, he handcrafts mini soundscapes traveling the distance of the project.
As a result, the project exudes immense versatility he says will aid in, “Finding your stride in an unbalanced world, striving through struggle.” Tracks like “Glass” with U.K. starlet Bellah lend an earnest and endearing call to action for love. Then there records like “What It Feel Like” with Bando. and S’natra that deliver straight unfiltered bars.
A Look Back Through An Extensive Collaborative Resume
Since emerging as a top artist in the Electronic Dance Music scene, Lewis has also quietly permeated into the Hip Hop industry. The multi-instrumentalist has worked with countless mainstream artists including Earthgang, YBN Cordae, Juice WRLD, among others. In fact, he’s day one homies with hip-hop duo Brasstracks and they formed a production collective. Blue is a full-circle moment because it allows his collaborative nature to flourish alongside his signature style.
He has also carved a wide commercial lane for his production work. In a recent Instagram post, he revealed “Energy” featuring B. Anderson and William $ appears in the Netflix show Coffee And Kareem. Also, his production lives in the trailer for the new NBA 2K21 game.
